The design of the temple was inspired by a trip to Bangkok where I saw the incredible work of Thai artists. It has been in process for more than 30 years and is not yet finished. It is my studio where I create and display my work. It's also a guest house for friends who come to visit . It's in Orange County, NC near Duke Forest. If you would like to come visit go to my contact page and let me know when you would like to visit.
My favorite artists are the native Americans, from the totems of Alaska and the works of the Navajos and Haidas, to the Mayans of Central America and the Incas of Peru. See their influence on the walls of my temple. My goal: Encourage celebration by putting a splash of color in the world. If you see a piece you like, contact me. All prices are negotiable.
I like to approach my work with little or no image in mind as to what will appear in reality, This allows my uncensored spirit to do its best work without interference. In the case of wood I let the material suggest what should happen. I usually prefer to work with pieces that other carpenters might describe as scrap wood. If I can make you laugh, that is a bonus.
Mathew Fox, scholar, writer, and director of the Center for Creation Spirituality and Culture, came to Chapel Hill in the spring of 2012 for a week-end seminar at the United Church, which I attended. Fox is the most creative and inspiring teacher I have met in decades. He opened the door to the mystic in me. I believe he is an important prophet for our 21st century.
